in the history of the world.
Our Declaration of Independence was
officially adopted on July 4, 1776 and Independence Day Massachusetts was
the first state to officially celebrate it as a state holiday by
recognition of the Massachusetts General Court in 1781.
The first official reading of the Declaration of Independence in New
England occurred in Worcester, MA on July 14, 1776 at what is now
Worcester City Hall.
